MANILA, Philippines - Docu-reality show Out of Control tackles two disorders that may be familiar to viewers — binge eating and social phobia — tomorrow.
Hosted by Mariz Umali and Rocco Nacino, Out of Control features the story of Jeff, a 33-year-old man who weighs 440 pounds. Considered “morbidly obese,†Jeff cannot stand for long period of time, he cannot run, take the stairs or even walk far due to his weight. He needs assistance in simple tasks like styling his hair or picking up something that fell on the floor.
According to Jeff, he used to have a normal weight when he was a kid. It was due to some personal experiences that he started to become a binge-eater or a person who consumes unusually large amount of food. Aside from binge eating, Jeff shares that his daily diet has also become uncontrollable — an average of nine to 15 cups of rice, oily dishes, 12 cups of coffee, and at least a pack of cigarettes. This kind of diet is already worrying Jeff’s family and friends.
Aside from binge eating, Out of Control also features individuals who have social anxiety disorder or social phobia that affects an individual’s daily social activities due to his fear of being judged or embarrassed.
Out of Control airs Saturdays after Startalk on GMA.
