MANILA, Philippines - Thor, fresh from his remarkable stint in The Voice of the Philippines, will open the much-anticipated Alicia Keys concert tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Thor will perform a 30-minute set to definitely serve as a fitting intermission to a highly-charged show. He was specifically handpicked by the concert’s local promoter, Ovation Productions.
Thor is currently working on a full-length album to be released in January 2014. Its repertoire will consist of covers requested by fans, selected original songs and some tracks he performed during The Voice.
“Heartwarming and power ballads with a little bit of mid-tempo tracks are expected in the album,†he noted.
The upcoming album under Cornerstone Music, his third (after his self-titled debut distributed by Warner and Duets With Thor courtesy of Ivory), will be produced by Rhaizo Chabeldin, with help from top composers Jonathan Manalo, Kiko Salazar, Soc Villanueva, Jungee Marcelo, among others.
Thor will also stage a birthday-cum-benefit concert for Super Typhoon Yolanda victims, produced by Cornerstone Concerts and Mary Mount Batch ’95, on Dec. 3, 8 p.m. at the Music Museum. He is the first singer off The Voice to release an album and do a concert.
He said, “I’m happy that I am able to continue my craft after The Voice. I can feel the support of my fans, especially those who have followed my career from way back.â€
His past duet with Jay Durias for the song What About Love became one of his memorable hits. Artists whom he has sung and worked with for that “duet album†also included Nina, Juris, Luke Mejares, Amber Davis and Jinky Vidal.
