Law of The Heart is CMMA awardee

MANILA, Philippines - The program, The Law of the Heart is Love, hosted by election lawyer Romy Macalintal was adjudged 2013 Best Radio Entertainment Program by the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) in its 35th annual ceremonies held last Friday (Nov. 15) at the GSIS Teatro of the Government Service Insurance System in Pasay City.

The trophy and the Certificate of Recognition were personally received by Romy with his wife, Mila (photo), in attendance.

Romy’s program is aired every Saturday from 8 to 9 p.m. with replay on Monday from 9 to 10 p.m. over government station DWBR, 104.3FM where he reads love poems with guest celebrities and plays love songs of yesteryear. Since its initial broadcast four years ago, close to a hundred known personalities from all walks of life had already guested in the program.

The program extends help to poor and deserving elementary and high school students of various Catholic parishes since Romy generously donates the entire income of the program to the scholarship program of Mission Guided by Mary (MGM) Foundation which, to date, has 600 scholars nationwide who are supervised by the various Parish Priests involved in MGM’s Parish Educational Assistance Program (PEAP).

Romy expressed his gratitude to the sponsors of his radio program namely, San Miguel Corporation, Foton Motors Philippines, Philippine Veterans Bank and Lots-a-Pizza for their continued support, hoping to get similar support from other companies or advertisers. He also thanked director Tito Cruz of the Bureau of Broadcast Services and Maju Encomienda Ramos, DWBR station manager for their trust in his radio show.

Romy said that “with 600 scholars at P650 per month per student, we need an average of P350,000 a month to continue this educational assistance for these less fortunate students. Thus, in soliciting donations from some other benefactors I have been telling them that P650 is not even equivalent to the cost of one buffet lunch or dinner which, if they could just skip once a month could help reduce their cholesterol, sugar or uric acid levels and at the same time help these poor students — nakapag-reduce ka na, nakatulong ka pa.

“Finally, I look forward to more celebrities accepting my invitation for them to guest in my humble radio show to read love poems and be instruments in assuring continuous support to these poor and deserving elementary and high school students. Celebrities who may want to consider this invitation may call 920-3928 or e-mail me at rbmacalintal@gmail.com. They will certainly  enjoy and have fun reading these love poems,” a reassuring Romy said.
