MANILA, Philippines - Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is still a Kapuso.
The singer-actress signed a two-year contract with GMA-7 at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Present during the contract signing were GMA chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon, GMA’s officer-in-charge for entertainment LilyBeth Rasonable, and Regine’s manager Cacai Mitra.
Regine’s renewal of contract with GMA-7 comes after her husband Ogie Alcasid moved to TV5 last August. Ogie’s transfer to the Kapatid network prompted talks that Regine will also leave GMA-7. However, earlier reports already dispelled the rumors weeks before she signed a new contract with the Kapuso network.
In an interview with entertainment news website Philippine Entertainment Portal, Regine said one of the programs she’ll be doing as part of her two-year contract is a soap opera.

It can be remembered that Regine’s last soap opera with the network was the 2011 romantic-comedy soap opera “I Heart You, Pare!†with Dingdong Dantes. However, Regine had to give up the role midway through its airing due to her pregnancy. Then Kapuso artist Iza Calzado replaced Regine.
Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes — two Kapuso artists who were rumored to be leaving the network — also renewed their contracts with GMA-7 recently.
