MANILA, Philippines - Residents of Olongapo gave their province mate 2013 Miss World Megan Young a warm welcome last Saturday during a homecoming parade that cheered them up after their place was hit by floods caused by Typhoon Santi.
After the motorcade, accompanied by Miss World Organization head Julia Morley and Miss World-Philippines franchise-holder Cory Quirino, Megan visited leptospirosis patients at the James L. Gordon Hospital and then proceeded to the Holy Spirit in Barangay Sta. Rita for a feeding program for children.
Yesterday, Megan paid both houses of Congress a courtesy call before doing the same on Pres. Noynoy Aquino in Malacañang. Today, Megan is expected to spend quiet time with her family before going back tomorrow to London which will be her home during her year-long reign.
Singer Ronnie Liang (bottom) dedicated a song to Megan during one of the events in Olongapo.
Incidentally, Megan did a movie, Bang Bang Alley, before she left for Bali, Indonesia, for the Miss World pageant. Photo at above, right, shows Megan on the BBA set with Ely Buendia, director of the movie. — Reported by CELSO DE GUZMAN CAPARAS, photos courtesy of Olongapo City Information Connection
