Maghihintay ends today

MANILA, Philippines - Marking its end today, GMA 7’s af- ternoon series Maghihintay Pa Rin domi- nated its timeslot, according to widely recognized TV ratings data supplier, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Aside from the heartwarming love story and conflicts between the characters, the series has significantly mirrored the life and struggles of fellow Filipinos working abroad. Despite hardships — deprived by a company, lived in a jail in Sin- gapore away from his family and left behind by his one true love — Kiko Sebastian (played by Rafael Rosell) has tri- umphantly proved that everything can be overcome with the right attitude and disposition in life. As Rafael puts it, “One should never give up on love and that good things come to those who work hard.”

With its OFW-themed storyline, the series has consistently rated in its times- lot, based on data recorded in National Urban Philippines from its pilot episode last June 10 to Sept. 20 (weekdays), with an 11.7 percent household rating versus ABS-CBN’s My Little Juan’s (MLJ) 9.4 per- cent and Dugong Buhay’s (DB) 9.3 percent. In Urban Luzon, it scored a 13.4 percent compared to MLS’ 8.5 and DB’s 8.2 percent while in Mega Manila, MPR posted a 13.8 percent household rating against MLJ’s 8.2 and DB’s 7.8 percent.

More intense scenes should be watched out for. As Kiko and Gene- va (Bianca King), together with their son Franz, try to complete their family; Or- lando (Dion Ignacio) won’t take a defeat without putting up a fight. Orlando will be able to ride on the same plane with them. Kiko and Geneva will be alarmed when Orlando hostages Franz and demands Geneva to come back to him. How will Kiko save the life of his son? Will Geneva submit to Orlando’s wish?
