Julia Barretto: We’re all gonna be okay

MANILA, Philippines - “We’re all gonna be okay!”

This was young actress Julia Barretto’s brief response when asked by the entertainment media about the current issues surrounding her family.

Julia's aunt Claudine Barretto made headlines when she filed a Temporary Protection Order against estranged husband Raymart Santiago last week. Gretchen Barretto, meanwhile, berated the press for asking constantly questions about the family.

But Julia said there’s no time to be sad despite these recent developments.

“I’m okay with everyone, I’m very happy,” she said.

The Kapamilya actress added: “Happy-happy lang. My gosh, wala nang time maging sad. Very blessed ako. There’s no time to complain.”

Comparison

Julia is currently considered as one of ABS-CBN’s most promising young stars. She has starred in episodes of the fantasy show “Wansapanataym” and the drama anthology show “Maalaala Mo Kaya.” She will also soon star in own soap opera.

The 16-year-old actress was supposed to star in a remake of “Cofradia,” but the network decided to cancel in lieu of complaints over its alleged racist content. It was later on replaced with the fantasy show “Mirabella.”

“It’s equally exciting and equally beautiful. Sobrang ganda. So excited na ako na mapanood ninyo,” Julia said of her upcoming show.

As one of the more popular young female stars, Julia is often compared to another popular young star in the Kapamilya network — Kathryn Bernardo. But Julia said she expected to be compared with anyone in the industry.

Thankful

“Alam mo, even before you enter show business, dapat ma-accept mo na yung fact na makukumpara ka sa kahit sino. So, hindi naman yun dapat tinututukan, fino-focus, binibigyan ng attention,” Julia said.

She added, “Di ba, you have work, you have so many good things happening around you. There are so many things to focus on, hindi na yun.”
 
Julia spoke to the press during her launch as the endorser of Pond’s Acne Clear White 10-in-1 Facial Wash and Pond’s White Beauty Cream with Korean Ginseng + Saffron on Monday, August 5.

“Sobrang saya, sobrang nagpapasalamat kasi sobrang daming babae naman ang pwedeng mapili pero ako yung napiling mabigyan ng opportunity,” she said.

Of course, she’s thankful for the push her home network is giving her.

“Dream ko ito, dream ko (to be an actress) dati pa. So happy, excited, thankful — lahat,” Julia said.
