Miss U beauty wears Substance

Desiree Verdadero-Abesamis

MANILA, Philippines - “I know I’ve gained a little weight but I still feel sexy and trendy. It’s great that there’s Substance, a fashion brand which caters to plus-size women,” says Miss Universe 1984 third runner-up Desiree Verdadero-Abesamis.

Twenty eight years after being crowned as one of the most beautiful women in the world, Desiree keeps her fashion sense in tune with the ever-changing trends in clothing for women. “Substance (designed by Boyet Fajardo) has successfully combined design and comfort with curve-flattering techniques that does not really hide anything that you’re ashamed of. And what’s more important is that it’s very affordable compared to other brands for full-figured women,” Desiree shares.

Top RTW designer Boyet Fajardo explains that the demand for sexier and daring plus-size clothing has grown dramatically. That is why he came up with his holiday collection with a little twist without going beyond the design philosophy he has achieved for Substance. Fajardo is a pioneer of designing clothes for plus-size women in the Philippines and he makes it a point to always attend to the needs of his customers.

For Desiree, Substance is such a treat for her because it makes her confident and sexy even after gaining a little weight. “The brand offers a wide array of choices in trendy plus-size fashions. The design and quality also show elegance and sophistication,” she says.

Substance’s holiday collection introduces formal and party dresses that will look sensational with a good pair of jeans, cute capris or sexy shorts.

On the other hand, Boyet is thankful to be working again with Desiree, one of her favorite models when he was just starting out in the fashion industry. “I’m flattered to find out that she has some of my RTW clothes even before we did the pictorial for my latest collection,” he says.

Substance is available at selected SM Department Stores nationwide.
