MANILA, Philippines - Daniel Padilla was nominated for Best New Actor at the 29th Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards. Daniel was nominated for his role as Billy Fernandez, the singer who drove the storyline in 24/7 in Love. Daniel joined other ABS-CBN Star Cinema and TFC nominees for One More Try, The Mistress, The Healing and A Mother’s Story (TFC US).

Juan dela Cruz star Coco Martin continues to earn recognitions from various award-giving bodies for his sterling performance as an actor and for being a source of inspiration to the youth. Coco recently bagged the Youth Role Model of The Year award from the Familya Sauza-Berenguer de Marquina for the 93rd Las Familias Unidas; Most Outstanding Personality in Philippine Television at the first EdukCircle MOPiP TV Awards; and Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Single Drama/Telemovie Program at the Golden Screen TV Awards 2012 for his remarkable performance in the Kamao episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.

ANC bagged a total of four awards at the 11th Gawad Tanglaw, including Best TV Talk Show for Talkback with Tina Monzon-Palma and Best Business TV Program for On The Money. Other awardees were Storyline as Best Documentary and Travel Time as Best Travel Show. Gawad Tanglaw, which is composed of scholars and professors from all over the country, recognizes notable programs and personalities from print media, radio and television. 

Angelica Panganiban won the Outstanding Performance by an Actress award in a Gag or Comedy Program for Banana Split at the Golden Screen Awards. She first received the award in 2011 for the same show. Angelica also appears in the newly-launched Banana Nite, the nightly serving of the gag show. Watch out for Karen Lavida Loca (Angelica), Julius Baba (Zanjoe Marudo) and Ces Dragon (Melai Cantiveros) in Kandila, spoof of Bandila, with Jason Gainza as Boy Abunda in Ihaw Na, spoof of Ikaw Na and Angelica as Kris Aquino in the segment Krissy and Me. The Banana Nite cast will also be joined by new cast members — stand-up comedians from different comedy bars.

Meanwhile, Myx.tv GM Miguel Santos was named panelist at the 13th Annual Multicultural Media Forum in New York. 

Who is media’s new generation? What changes are in store for our industry in light of generational and demographic shifts? How can programmers and advertisers effectively reach this elusive demographic? These were the questions asked during the panel discussion titled, The Audience: Media’s New Generation, last March 14.

Miguel explained the attitudes, behaviors, viewing patterns and demands of today’s young, multicultural, multiplatform audiences, and how they plan to be relevant and “superserve” the next generation of TV viewers.

It was moderated by Adriana Waterston, VP for Marketing and Business Development, Horowitz Associates. Panelists included Paul Butler, GM, Aspire; Miguel Ferrer, EP, digital and chief transparency officer, Fusion; Lino Garcia, GM, ESPN Deportes; Judi Lopez, SVP, Affiliate Distribution and Marketing, NUVOtv; Lucinda Martinez, VP for Domestic Network Distribution and Multicultural Marketing, and HBO.
