MANILA, Philippines - In response to growing interest in the media, the Teodoro F. Valencia Foundation, Inc. is setting up an eight-week seminar on journalism and mass communication. The seminar has been an annual project of the Foundation to promote integrity and excellence in Philippine journalism.
It has lined up respectable and prominent practitioners in the field of journalism and mass communication as speakers. Topics include Idiomatically Yours (Say the Proper Idioms) to be discussed by Dr. Ceciliano-Jose Cruz, DepEd trainor and author of the book Campus Journalism for Students, Teachers and Advisers; Advocacy in Journalism by Ptr. Askel dela Cruz, editor-in-chief, The WORD Magazine; Photos Tell the Big News, Manny Coloyugo, photo journalist of Manila Bulletin, Sports Journalism: Action in Sports by broadcaster, sports analyst and columnist Quinito Henson of The Philippine STAR; lawyer Amado Valdez, dean of the University of the East on Guarding Against Libel: What to Write and Not to Write; Abante managing editor Nick Quijano Jr., on Tabloids vs Broadsheets: A Friendly Rivalry; Towards A More Responsible Entertainment Media by GMA 7’s Startalk host and STAR entertainment editor Ricky F. Lo; and Nationalism in Media (Pilipino News) to be discussed by three-time president of the National Press Club and Balita columnist Marcelo Lagmay.
The 25th Teodoro F. Valencia Lecture Series on Journalism and Mass Communication will be held on Jan. 25 to March 15, 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the T.F. Valencia Media Study Center, T.M.
