MANILA, Philippines - With three successful productions staged at its Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT), Resorts World Manila’s theater productions continue to reap recognition.
At the 25th Annual Aliw Awards, Resorts World Manila garnered the most number of nominations which included awards for The King and I namely Best Musical Production, Best Actor in a Musical for Leo Tavarro Valdez and Best Stage Director of a Musical for Freddie Santos.
Other nominations were Best Actor in a Musical for Bo Cerrudo; Best Actress in a Musical for both Monique Wilson and Shiela Valderamma; Best Child Performer for Anton Posadas; and Best Actress in a Featured Role for both Gina Respall and Tanya Manalang. The King and I has extended its run until May 2013.
Meanwhile, Joanna Ampil won the Best Actress in a Musical award for her role in The Sound of Music.
In 2011, Roxanne Lapus earned her Hall of Fame award for directing The Sound of Music.
Draybers, on the other hand, won the Aliw Awards 2012’s Best Group Performance in Hotels, Music Lounges and Bars. The band has been rocking the local music scene after being recognized as Resorts World Manila’s in-house band at Bar 360.
