Adam coming for show March 1

Adam Lambert: Will his second Phl visit be as controversial as the first?

Adam Lambert, the controversial American Idol Season 8 finalist, is coming for a concert on March 1 at the MOA Arena.

The big question is: Will the openly gay Adam stir the proverbial hornet’s nest (again!) that he did during his  Asian Glamnation Tour in 2010? That tour was met by protest from what an AFP report described as “a conservative political faction” in Malaysia.

Fortunately, unlike when a group tried (in vain) to stop Lady Gaga’s concert in Manila last May, nobody made any such move against Adam who regaled the audience when he did a brief lip-lock with his male bassist, prompting the crowd to scream, “I love you, Adam!”

Adam’s tweet then I guess stands up to now: “Does my show promote the gay lifestyle? It promotes living ANY lifestyle that includes the freedom to seek love and intimacy. Gay, straight, bi, young or old. It’s all inclusive. Plus, what’s THE gay lifestyle? There isn’t just one. There are so many different kinds of gay people. We have a variety of different lifestyles. There’s not only one lifestyle lived by straight folks. Generalizing…”
(Tickets to Adam Lambert’s March 1 MOA Arena concert are priced at P6,000, Patron VIP; P4,500, Patron Regular; P3,500, Lower Box VIP; P2,500, Lower Box Regular; P1,500, Upper Box; and P500, General Admission. Check out SM ticket outlets. For more inquiries, call 470-2222.)

Janine ready for the universe

Before she left for Las Vegas yesterday for the 61st Miss Universe Pageant on Dec. 19 (Dec. 20 in Manila, aired live by ABS-CBN), 2012 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Janine Tugonon underwent seven months of training calculated to enhance her ramp skills, tone down her body and pull her out of her shell.

“I used to be the silent type,” revealed the 23-year-old, 5’9” Ballet-trained UST Pharmacy graduate (UST) during the media send-off. “I’ve learned to be sociable and to be people-oriented.”

The long delay in the staging of this year’s Miss U did give Janine (and the 88 other hopefuls) extra time to prepare.

More ‘beauty-ful’ items:

= “I didn’t expect to win,” aspiring pop singer Marie Loraine de Guzman, 25, echoed what most newly-crowned beauty queens always say after she was named Miss Casino Filipino 2012. “It’s an overwhelming experience. I’m so lucky to be chosen PAGCOR’s Ambassadress of Goodwill.” Marie, who represented Casino Filipino Hyatt, beat 24 other contestants. Before the contest, Marie was signed up by Viva Artists Agency as member of its Pop Girl group Eurasia.

= Another Bicolana bagged the first-ever Miss Tourism World Philippines crown at a colorful pageant held recently at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. She’s Meryl Angeline King, a 23-year-old nurse from Tabaco City who will represent the country in the Miss Tourism World contest in Bangkok on Dec. 15. Meryl is a product of the Albay Pageant Academy which is similar to a beauty school in Venezuela.

Albay Gov. Joey Salceda hailed the Pageant Academy’s effort to groom homegrown charmers as the province’s ambassadresses of goodwill overseas.
