Art 2 Art presents December specials

MANILA, Philippines - Art 2 Art has partnered with the National Museum of the Philippines to present the award-winning program’s December episodes. Dubbed as the Art 2 Art Christmas Specials at the National Museum, the series will showcase performances by school-based artists’ groups, a feature on the National Museum’s conservation work and a tribute to painter Fernando Amorsolo, named as the country’s first National Artist.

Produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company, Art 2 Art airs every Sunday, 3:30 to 4 p.m., on DZRH (666 khz on the AM band) and on cable television via RHTV. It can also be viewed simultaneously on the Internet through DZRH Live Streaming. Host is Lisa Macuja.

The Art 2 Art Christmas Specials at the National Museum will feature the following episodes: Dec. 2 – National Museum director Jeremy Barns discusses the work that goes into conserving, restoring and maintaining the country’s artistic, cultural and scientific treasures; Dec. 9 – Jervy Robles, director of the Ateneo Children’s Theater, relates the story behind the “oldest children’s playhouse” in the Philippines while a group of its young actors present an excerpt from their production titled Kules; Dec. 16 – rondalla music is on focus as the University of the Philippines Rondalla, led by Prof. Elaine Espejo-Cajucom, drops by and performs pieces such as Dominic Salustiano’s Pasadoble No. 3 and Peter Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings; Dec. 23 — the University of the East Chorale, with assistant choirmaster Dr. Carl Elmore Facto, engages in a “caroling on-the-air” for Art 2 Art’s Christmas episode with its rendition of Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, Noche Buena, Kasadya and Paskong Anong Saya; Dec. 30 – writer, critic and educator Cid Reyes tackles the most significant contributions of National Artist Fernando Amorsolo to Philippine art, many of whose works are on permanent exhibit at the National Museum.
