MANILA, Philippines - “We will not reinvent broadcasting in the Philippines, we will not revolutionize journalism. We are just here to do our basic task as journalists, which is to tell the story. And that’s what we’ll do: Tell the story of the Filipino people.”
These words came from Ferdie Aboga, News Production head of Solar News and supervising producer of Solar Network News, a primetime newscast to be anchored by veteran reporter and multi-awarded journalist Pia Hontiveros.
“In national stories, we will present as much information as possible so viewers are armed to make intelligent decisions. In political issues, we will make sure that both sides are given enough time to explain. We will present analysts to distill the information we gathered. Even in our analyses, we will make sure to present varied perspectives,” Aboga added.
Solar Network News also intends to present news on demand. “So the information which we think our viewers need will be there right when they need it.” Right now, Solar News is airing news bulletins every 15 minutes on TALKtv.
Solar Network News will air live for its maiden broadcast tonight at 6.
