Manila, Philippines - Eight scripts have been selected for production for the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). This was announced by the MMFF executive committee, led by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino, in a presscon yesterday.
Making up the 2012 line-up are Conyo Problems, comedy under GMA Films; El Presidente, action, Scenema Concept International, Inc.; Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang, family adventure, Unitel Productions, Inc. TV5; One More Try (working title), romance-drama, ABS-CBN Productions, Inc. and Viva Films; Shake, Rattle & Roll 14, horror, Regal Entertainment, Inc.; Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote and Me, fantasy-action, Octoarts Films, M-Zet Productions, Imus Productions, APT Entertainment and GMA Films; Sisteraka, comedy, ABS-CBN Productions, Inc. and Viva Films; and The Strangers, horror-suspense, Quantum Films.
Also part of this year’s MMFF is the New Wave Section, a separate category for full-length independent films and student short films.
Tolentino said that they are not going to make any box-office target this year, but are hoping to break last year’s record-setting take of P636M.
MMFF runs every December beginning on Christmas Day.
