Kapamilya exec Cory acts as a peacemaker

MANILA, Philippines - The cold war between Box-Office Queen Ai-Ai de las Alas and “pretender-to-Ai’s-throne” Vice Ganda is over, thanks to Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Channel 2 head, who acted as the peacemaker during her 50th birthday bash at Buddha Bar in Makati City Tuesday (May 15) last week.

According to a Funfare scoop late last year, Vice snubbed Ai-Ai at the lobby of a five-star hotel in Makati City. Ai-Ai and company were having dinner when Vice arrived with Kris Aquino and other friends. Except Vice, everybody greeted Ai-Ai who was seated only a table away. Vice’s action was interpreted as a premature show of swell-headedness. Actually, the bad blood between The Queen and The Pretender went a long way, with Ai-Ai getting most of the sympathy.

Anyway, as they’d say, all’s well that ends well.

Golden Girl Cory Vidanes lost no time in helping bridge the gap between Ai-Ai and Vice who, perhaps because they couldn’t say no, politely kissed and made up. The reconciliation proved to be a most memorable birthday gift to Cory.

Cory with Susan Roces…

Does it mean that, according to reports, the two are ready to star with Kris in a Star Cinema movie intended for this year’s Metro Filmfest? But hasn’t Ai-Ai closed a deal with Vic Sotto (her co-star in the Star Cinema 2011 Metrofest top-grosser Enteng ng Ina Mo) and Sen. Bong Revilla to star in a movie, also for the same Metrofest, which they themselves will produce?

Wait a minute, there’s a hitch.

Funfare sources said that when Star Cinema guys learned about Ai-Ai, Vic and Bong’s plan, they called Ai-Ai to an emergency meeting during which Ai-Ai was asked to renew her contract which expired last January, with a “huge raise in talent fee” that she couldn’t refuse. Included in the contract is the clause that she can star in a movie with Vic only for Star Cinema and not for any other company.

There’s a word that all of December this year, Ai-Ai will be in the US for the processing (by immigration lawyer Jemela Nettles) of her application for an extraordinary-ability visa and those of her children Sophia and Niccolo who are being petitioned by their dad Miguel Vera.

Could it be true that Ai-Ai is also being offered marriage by her new boyfriend Jed Alvin Salang (whose family owns a car store)?

As I typed this piece, I got the following text message from Ai-Ai: “Hindi na ako kasali at hindi na rin ako gagawa sa Star Cinema this year. Tatahimik na lang ako.”
