Animal Planet introduces city slickers to handfishing

MANILA, Philippines - This month, Animal Planet dives into murky Oklahoma waters, hoping to reel in the king of all catfish in Hillbilly Handfishin’, a 12-part series where bustling city dwellers and suburbanites travel to rural Oklahoma for some old-fashioned handfishing — the sport of catching catfish with your bare hands and feet. New episodes premiere every Tuesday at 10 p.m. starting Nov. 15 with encores every Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at midnight and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Self-proclaimed hillbillies Skipper Bivins and Trent Jackson are Oklahoma hand-fishermen with decades of experience and unlimited enthusiasm for a sport that’s foreign to many Americans. It’s a family affair with the entire Bivins clan running Big Fish Adventures and working nonstop to give groups of city slickers a taste of hillbilly livin.’
