MANILA, Philippines - The 24th Aliw Awards is now open for nominations. The announcement was made by the Aliw Awards Foundation during the contract signing held at Resorts World. The ceremonies will be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Nov. 8.
Present were Aliw past president Leo Baluyut, secretary Connie Resurreccion, RWM VP for marketing Jeffrey Evora, Aliw Awards president lawyer Jeatte Palabrica, assistant treasurer Rheena Baluyut and RWM marketingís Melvin Bermudez.
Screening will be done this month. Up for grabs are awards for Best Teen Performer (Male and Female), Best New Artist (Individual and Group), Best Emcee (Male and Female), Best Actor and Actress (Musical and non-musical), Best Performer in Hotels, Music Bars and Lounges (Male, female and group), Best Major concert (Male and Female) and Best Performance in a Concert (Male and Female).
There will also be special awards, while several artists will be named Hall of Famers.
Not be forgotten is the hotly-contested Entertainer of the Year award, which has been won by Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez and Sarah Geronimo.
To qualify, performances must have been shown from September 2010 to Oct. 15, 2011. Material of performances and write-ups of nominees such as CDs and DVDs of performances may be sent to #39 Kirishima St., BF THAI, BF International, Las Piñas City 1740, Metro Manila.
