Indie rock concerts with French band Subway

MANILA, Philippines - Get ready to be blown away in October with a unique musical infusion of pop and rock performances by the French female rock band Subway. Often hailed as the female version of Noir Désir, Subway has definitely made its mark in the French music scene for the past 15 years. Its sound infuses a frenzied kind of rock that transports its entire musical dimension on stage.

Subway lives with the creative passion and the desire inherent in making music and writing songs, as if it were an extension of themselves. But despite the rock frenzy, there’s always room for elegance, for sublime harmonies, and for a touch of class. There is pop — wild keyboards, delicious choruses and rebounding basses. Then there’s rock — swelling and raucous. And of course there are the songs perfect just as they should be, no more, no less — that lodge themselves in the mind and won’t let go.

Subway is living the good life with Hide and Seek, its fifth album released this year. An electric and sophisticated whirl that dances on cold embers, and officially connects the band to the roots of modern-day rock. Subway has collaborated with some of the most prominent French bands of today’s rock scene: Placebo, Eiffel, No one is innocent, etc.

Subway will play its unique blend of pop-rock genre alongside homegrown band Taken by Cars. Melodies will be reverberating throughout the interiors of the music hall at the SM Mall of Asia on Oct. 7 and at the SM City North Edsa Sky Dome on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m.

The Subway concerts are a FrancoPhil event organized by the Embassy of France in the Philippines, Alliance Française de Manille, SM Mall of Asia and SM City North EDSA, with the support of Air-France-KLM, Total, Veolia Water and Sofitel Luxury Hotel.

Admission to the concert is free. For details, call Sabrina Durand, AFM Cultural Coordinator at 895-7585, 895-7441 or text 0917-8928968 or e-mail at sabrina@alliance.ph or visit www.alliance.ph, 209 Nicanor Garcia St., Bel-Air II, Makati City.
