MANILA, Philippines - Erich John “EJ” Mahinay has won a free trip for two to Hollywood to watch the season 10 finale of American Idol during the Greenwich-Star World Ultimate Idol Face-off held recently at the Trinoma Activity Center.
Apart from tickets to the American Idol finale, the Hollywood trip also includes hotel accommodations in Los Angeles.
EJ, a 24-year-old accountant, said he is an avid fan of Star World shows, as well as Greenwich pizzas, the co-presenter of AI. He was among the 12 finalists drawn by Greenwich for the Ultimate Idol Face-off.
During the event, the finalists answered easy to difficult AI trivia, while the audience was treated to games like asking for their Extremely Cheesy pick-up lines as Greenwich launched its new Xtreme Cheese Pizzas.
In the end, it was EJ who answered the most number of questions among the finalists. He received the prize from Fox International Channels territory director Jude Turcuato and Greenwich marketing director Luis Velasco III, alongside endorser Anne Curtis.
“We came up with Ultimate Idol Face-off to make the winner selection more exciting and competitive. It’s better than just picking out of a draw or raffle,” Turcuato said. “We actually gave them a chance to prove that they deserve the grand prize.”
“These AI fans are really into it, so we wanted to give the best AI fan a chance to fly to the US to watch the finals live,” Velasco said.
The event was hosted by DJ Mojo Jojo and DJ Suzy of Magic 89.9. Also present during the event were AI Season 6 and Top 10 finalist AJ Tabaldo, Kris Lawrence and Nikki Gil, who rendered some of the best AI hits. Anne, whose guest appearance was a surprise, sang her version of Alone.
At the end of the event, guests took home special AI 10th anniversary CDs, which are exclusively available at Greenwich.
Stay tune to AI as the remaining Idol hopefuls sing their way to the winning spot.
The grand finale will be on May 26, only on Star World, which can been seen on Sky Ch48, Cable Link Ch35, Dream Ch36, Cignal Ch40 and over 275 cable operators nationwide.
