MANILA, Philippines - It is a no-brainer that today’s kids are engrossed in computers and handheld devices that physical games don’t appeal as much to them anymore. Thus, Warner Bros. Consumer Products came up with Looney Tunes Active!, a campaign that encourages children to engage in physical activities and promotes an active lifestyle.
Looney Tunes Active! is a global effort initiated by Warner Bros. Consumer Products to communicate the importance of an active lifestyle among kids. In the Philippines, Looney Tunes Active! was launched in 2009. A physical education tour was conducted in select elementary schools in Metro Manila where kids aged eight to 12 learned the fundamentals of running. The highlight of the campaign was the Looney Tunes Active Run with over 1,000 participants.
In 2010, Looney Tunes Active Run was re-staged, this time even going to as far as Cebu City. With renowned running gurus Rio “Coach Rio” dela Cruz and Noy Jopson as race directors, the fun run was held in in SM Megamall and in SM City Cebu with over 2,000 participants.
This year, Looney Tunes introduces Looney Tunes Showtime!, a similar campaign which encourages children to develop and showcase their various talents through performance arts, visual arts and sports. Looney Tunes Showtime provides children with more physical activities to choose from such as football, speed stacking, dance sessions and a lot more.
The Looney Tunes Active campaign has been successful since it was launched in 2009. This year more activities are incorporated to cater to the varying interests of kids.
Pacific Licensing Studio is bringing Looney Tunes Active to nearby provinces such as Laguna and Pampanga so more kids can join.
