MANILA, Philippines - Greenwich, together with Star World, brought the American Idol (AI) experience to Filipinos through its Idol Overload event held recently at the Trinoma Activity Center.
The afternoon event gave AI fans an experience to remember with entertaining numbers from local celebrities and exciting games highlighted by the Ultimate Idol Face-Off, a trivia challenge about AI, wherein the winner got the chance to personally watch the Season 10 finale live in Hollywood. The contest was participated in by the 12 raffle winners of the Greenwich American Idol Fanatic Feast Promo. Twenty-four-year-old AI fan EJ Marinay emerged as the grand winner as he showcased his knowledge about AI through the years.
“I’m definitely excited to watch American Idol live,” said EJ, who is a young accountant, adding that he is excited to see Jennifer Lopez and other stars at the finale night. He received two roundtrip tickets with hotel accommodations in Los Angeles, as well as tickets to the season finale.
The afternoon program also treated the audience to more fun, food and surprises. Hosted by DJ Suzy and Mojo Jojo of Magic 89.9 FM, the show was graced by Kris Lawrence and Nikki Gil, along with AI Season 6 Top 20 contestant, AJ Tabaldo. Greenwich celebrity endorser Anne Curtis also made a surprise appearance and sang her own rendition of Alone to the delight of audience and mall-goers.
Spectators were treated with some of Greenwich’s best-tasting pizzas as the country’s No. 1 pizza and pasta chain launched its new Xtreme Cheese Pizzas. To top off the event in true AI fashion, guests also took home AI 10th anniversary CDs, available exclusively at Greenwich.
