MANILA, Philippines - Fans of destruction, damage and mayhem, prepare to be delighted.
Want a restaurant that needs razing, a car that needs crushing, a boat that needs busting up or a lobby that needs leveling? Just call on brothers Craig and Paul Pumphrey who combine strength, science and determination to “bring down the house” in the new series Human Wrecking Balls.
Witness seven-time world demolition record holders Craig and Paul as they destroy the indestructible. The brothers perform unbelievable feats of strength using only their bare hands and unprotected bodies. As the Human Wrecking Balls, they break to bits everything from cars, to airplanes, and even houses. Their ultimate goal is to prove that nothing can stand up to their human force. It’s a true test of Man vs. Man Made.
The Pumphreys are far from your average brothers; for starters their combined weight is 550 pounds. Craig is a decorated police officer and world champion mixed martial artist. He recognized his gift of surviving hard crashes at a young age after falling 20 feet onto a steel construction bolt that shattered his skull. Craig was told he would never walk again but through unwavering determination he was back in action just a short time later. Older brother Paul has twice been crowned World Creative Breaking Champion, once after breaking through six feet of ice.
The Pumphreys are strategic in their passion for dismantling things. For each challenge, they join forces with a team of experts in material science and engineering to review the object of their destruction from every possible angle before taking it apart, using physics and know-how to determine the most effective approach. The duo also enjoys a little friendly competition throughout the challenges such as who can break out of a jail cell the fastest and which Pumphrey makes a better bouncer based on who can most successfully destroy a bar.
At the end of each episode, cameras take viewers through each destroyed item and explain exactly how the Pumphreys broke it up. What does it take to dismantle a car? Did the “Three Little Pigs” get it right when it comes to the strength of building materials? Leave it to the Pumphrey brothers to find out with their bare hands.
