Twistix and shopping tips in Hanep Buhay

MANILA, Philippines - As always, GMA 7’s Hanep Buhay hosts Chris Tiu and Love Añover, and the Hanep Team have a new plan up their sleeves to surprise a hardworking entre-Pinoy.

This Saturday’s target for another hanep Bigayang Bayan is Emily Marcaida. Emily is considered the Reyna ng Kalsada of Vista Verde Village, Cavite. Every afternoon, she weaves her way through the streets of their barangay to sell her yummy merienda. Part of her famous menu is the well-loved banana cue, her sumptuous barbeque, and a selection of cool drinks that make a snack complete.

But Emily is playing dual roles. Not only does she walk the streets to sell her snacks, she also had to bring her kids along with her. That’s why Love and the Hanep Team prepared something special for the hardworking mom. Groceries, food supplies, cookware and a bike with a side car are all waiting to surprise Emily.

And then it’s all about Twistix in the HANEP! segment. The famous potato street food from Taiwan has hit the streets of Manila — Twistix, the potatoes with a twist. Whole potatoes are put in a peeling machine and served a la barbeque, with different flavors to choose from. Owner Lolit Jocson has reaped the benefits of bringing the lucrative business to the Philippines. From a humble food stall in May 2010, Twistix now has 60 branches.
