MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN airs the highly anticipated 83rd Academy Awards via satellite tomorrow, Feb. 28, 10:30 a.m. with a primetime replay on Studio 23 on Tuesday (March 1), 10:30 p.m.
The King’s Speech leads nominees with 12 nods, followed by True Grit with ten and The Social Network with eight. All three films are competing for Best Picture against Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, “he Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, Toy Story 3 and Winter’s Bone.
Battling it out for Best Actor are Javier Bardem (Biutiful), Jeff Bridges (True Grit), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and James Franco (127 Hours), who will also host the show together with Anne Hathaway.
Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right), Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone), Natalie Portman (Black Swan) and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine) compete for the coveted Best Actress award.
The 83rd Academy Awards, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will take place at Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California. Halle Berry, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hanks, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Joahansson, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow are among the presenters; while Zachary Levi, Mandy Moore, A.R. Rahman and Florence Welch will perform.
Velvet (SkyCable ch 53) will also air the Oscars live on cable also on Monday beginning 6:30 a.m.
