MANILA, Philippines - The reputation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has been tainted due to the constant controversies surrounding it. Is it still possible to reform the military?
The AFP was a huge factor in the success of the 1986 EDSA Revolution. The soldiers fought against the Marcos regime because they wanted to set things right in the military and to launch the extensive reformation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Twenty five years later, the AFP succumbed to corruption headed by its top officials. The pabaon system, overpriced biddings and padrino system are just some of the reported controversies here.
Join host Ted Failon as he discusses the role of RAM or Reformed the Armed Forces Movement in the People Power Revolution and reform groups like Y-O-U (Young Officers Union) and Magdalo in their fight for change in the military.
Failon Ngayon airs tomorrow after Kapamilya Cinema Blockbusters.
