MANILA, Philippines - The Hollywood hunk finds his admirable physique buried alive in a new film that received critical reviews abroad, drawing comparison to some Alfred Hitchcock classics. The 93-minute suspense thriller features the star of the upcoming Green Lantern as truck driver-family man Paul Conroy who wakes up to realize the shocking truth that he has been placed in an old wooden coffin with just a lighter, a mobile phone with a fast-draining battery, and an oxygen supply that gives him a one and a half-hour deadline (or just about the length of the whole movie) to get off from six-feet under.
Ryan Reynold’s (photo) performance, from which the film’s believability rested on, earned the critics’ nod and showcased the actor’s commitment to the role. As to why he ends up buried is for Filipino viewers to know as the movie distributed by Viva International Pictures opens today in theaters nationwide.
