MANILA, Philippines - After becoming the Ultimate Male Survivor of StarStruck’s second batch, there’s no stopping Mike Tan (photo) when it comes to dreaming big. He had proven it that one has to dream, believe and survive to fulfill what seems to be an impossible task.
Such a perspective has made him believe that “there are no small parts, just small actors.” He has played Rico in Rosalinda, Choi in Marimar and Tero in I Luv NY. In movies, he acted parts in Mano Po 6 and Manay Po 2.
At present Mike is more focused as Migs Ocampo in the ongoing Trudis Liit aired on GMA 7. “I always give my best in every role. I think those acting stints I went through helped hone my eagerness to improve, focus and appreciate the opportunities I am receiving now,” he shared.
The character he is playing is described as cocky and full of himself. He has a past he wants to forget.
Asked to whom he can credit his acting improvement, the GMA Artist Center talent pointed to his mentor Nanding Josef. Mike also acknowledged Maryo J. delos Reyes for having helped him, probably without the director knowing it.
“I don’t know if he really intended to teach me while we were working but he did. And I learned a whole lot from him and his perspective on things.”
Mike goes to the gym regularly with Rainier Castillo (another StarStruck alumnus) and plays basketball with childhood friends.
Winning StarStruck is the biggest thing for Mike.
“It made me want to dream big!” he said.
