MANILA, Philippines - Vampire Diaries, People Choice Awards’ Best New TV Drama for 2010, finally arrives on etc tomorrow, Aug. 20, at 8 p.m. Based on the best-selling novels of the same title, it features two vampires you would want to spend eternity with.
The setting is Mystic Falls, a small town in Virginia, which holds a dark history of supernatural activity. Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is a regular teenager girl who starts a new school year after a summer of mourning her parent’s tragic death in a car accident. On her first day back, while walking the halls with friends Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Caroline Candice Accola), she notices the arrival of a new guy in town.
Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), a descendent from one of the founding families of Mystic Falls returns to town with a long dark past to hide. Behind his glowing green eyes, a thirst is driving him crazy. Stefan, unlike other boys at Mystic Falls High school is not 17 nor does he live on a diet of burgers and fries.
To premiere also on etc on Aug. 25 at 10 p.m. is the 13th season of The Bachelor hosted by Chris Harrison. Those who followed the fourth season of The Bachelorette may recognize this season’s Bachelor Jason Mesnick, an account executive in estate and legacy planning, who won millions of hearts when his emotional proposal to bachelorette DeAnna Pappas was rejected. Back and ready to give love another chance Jason will meet 25 beautiful women all eager to make him “the one.” A father to Tyler, Jason is out to meet a woman he can settle down with and give his son the security and love a complete family can offer.
Parenthood, a new family drama premiering on 2nd Avenue tomorrow, Aug. 20, 9 p.m., is inspired by the hit 1989 film of the same name. Chronicling three generations of the Braverman family, from grandparents to parents to children. Parenthood illustrates the headaches, heartbreaks and joys of being a parent. Join Sarah Braverman (Lauren Graham, Gilmore Girls), a financially challenged single mother of two teenagers, who because of her money problems decides to move back home. Parenthood shows you that no matter what age you are, what you’re going through, or how you see life, being a parent is like no other job on earth. This is one job you cannot walk away from.
