MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Malls rewards families and friends a wide array of retail and food establishments, convenient mall amenities and various activities for enjoyment. The mall brings another international musical spectacle. Get ready as Cobra Starship performs live at the Ayala Malls.
Bearing an unusual name and beats that can set anyone up on their feet, American band Cobra Starship was created by former Midtown bassist and lead vocalist Gabe Saporta in 2005. Other members are Ryland Blackinton on guitars; bassist Alex Suarez and Nate Novarro, drums; and Victoria Asher, keytar player. The band released its debut album While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets in 2006 which featured the single Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) which came out in the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack in August 2006.
The catchy songs and sounds paved the way for the band’s popularity and led to the creation of the second album Viva la Cobra! in 2007. It was with this album that band toured extensively covering countries such as London, Tokyo and Canada and played during the MTV Spring Break, Bamboozle East West. Their video for The City Is At War went into the Top 10 on MTV and headlined for the first time and sold out every show. In the summer of 2008, Cobra played the main stage of Warped Tour and sold massive amounts of neon-colored merch. To prove its rising popularity, the album art of Viva la Cobra! was used to promote the fourth generation Apple iPod nano in purple.
Following the success of the previous albums, the band released the song I Kissed the Boy, its own cover version of Katy Perry’s I Kissed the Girl. The third album, Hot Mess, was released in August 2009 and featured the hit single Good Girls Go Bad featuring Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester. The single was co-written by Kara DioGuardi and Kevin Rudolf. The band also began its US tour dubbed as Believers Never Die (Part Deux), even opening for Fall Out Boy and performed with other bands like All Time Low, Metro Station and Hey Monday. Cobra Starship also performed in UK supporting Sing It Loud, Cash Cash and UK band Mini Soya.
Cobra Starship redefined the new dance rock genre with its upbeat songs and lyrics.
