MANILA, Philippines - It’s another three-day week on American Idol, which airs locally on Q-11, as the remaining contestants — the Top 10 boys and Top 10 girls — sing their hearts out to avoid being among the four contestants to be eliminated this week.
Last week, American Idol, a cultural phenomenon across the globe began with new judge Ellen DeGeneres joking about the rumored friction between her and fellow Idol judge Simon Cowell. Apparently, all is well between Emmy-winning host/comedian Ellen and music mogul Simon.
Things also went well for Casey James. The blonde hottie who plays a mean blues guitar impressed judges with his version of the Brian Adams hit Heaven. On the other hand, the judges seemed to have higher expectations for Andrew Garcia, one of the perceived frontrunners. His acoustic version of Sugar We’re Going Down by Fall Out Boy, sang with his usual impeccable vocals, received lukewarm response.
Still, Andrew fared a lot better than the four who were eliminated last week: Tyler Grady, Joe Muñoz, Ashley Rodriguez and Janell Wheeler.
