Ballet Manila's Christmas treat

MANILA, Philippines - Ballet Manila invites audiences to watch its all-Filipino original production Alamat: Si Sibol at Si Gunaw offered free to the public starting today and tomorrow, Dec. 27 at the Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City.

For the first time, Ballet Manila’s prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde dances a mother role as the goddess Luningning, who falls in love with a mortal named Kapuy (Nazer Salgado). Their marriage produces the twins Sibol (Bloom) and Gunaw (Doom) — danced by Yanti Marduli and Francis Cascaño respectively — who have the power to nurture and destroy the Earth.

Combining magic and myth with a timely environmental message, the ballet is based on the children’s book written by Palanca Hall of Fame awardee Ed Maranan

Alamat: Si Sibol at Si Gunaw is presented by Manila Broadcasting Company and Star City.
