MANILA, Philippines - Film enthusiasts can experience life underwater the IMAX way in Under the Sea 3D which is now showing at the IMAX theaters in SM City North-EDSA and the SM Mall of Asia until Oct. 6.
Under the Sea 3D is a new underwater adventure from the same award-winning filmmakers behind the highly-successful IMAX film Deep Sea 3D. It transports audiences to some of the most remote and exotic waters on earth, including South Australia, the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Triangle Islands of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
Through the magic of IMAX 3D, moviegoers will swim with some of the planet’s most extraordinary marine creatures ever filmed — from the exquisitely stunning to the downright deadly. With IMAX 3D images leap from the screen, float around the theater, and put the audience in the movie. It offers the audience the most immersive cinematic experience under the sea.
The film focuses on the bizarre physical designs and amazing behaviors of the unusual sea creatures that inhabit the highly bio-diverse regions of the Indo-Pacific, while also incorporating the serious environmental threats to these wonderful ecosystems. The film is directed by world-renowned underwater cinematographer Howard Hall, produced by Toni Myers and narrated by Jim Carrey.
The IMAX experience, which includes razor sharp images, laser-aligned digital sound and customized theater geometry that maximizes your field of view, first came to the Philippines with the opening of the IMAX theater in the SM Mall of Asia. With its eight-storey high and 180-feet wide gigantic screen, it dazzled audiences who clamored for more of the IMAX experience.
The IMAX theater in SM City North-EDSA, which opened last July with the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is the first digital IMAX theater.
Upcoming movies IMAX movies include Mummies 3D (October at the SM Mall of Asia), Space Station 3D (October at the SM Mall of Asia), A Christmas Carol in November, and Avatar 3D in December.
