MANILA, Philippines - TV5 in partnership with The Independent Filipino Filmmakers Multi-purpose Cooperative (IFC) brings back Philippine Independent Movies Night every Wednesday at 9 on 5MAX Movies.
From the start, TV5 laid its plans of “opening the door to expose Filipino creative and performing talents to the rest of Asia,” a first step, which ABC 5 president and Cinemalaya Foundation chairman Tonyboy Cojuangco has initiated through Cinemalaya, and the exhibition of the winning full-length digital movies through the network since 2006.
This year, TV5 continues the advocacy as it again started airing critically-acclaimed films of internationally awarded Pinoy indie filmmakers starting last Sept. 2. Featured were the first Cinemalaya winner of Best Picture and Best Editing, Pepot Artista — a musical comedy which marks the directorial debut of Doy del Mundo; Rica Arevalo’s ICU Bed #7; and Mike Dagñalan’s Isnats.
On Sept. 23, Khavn dela Cruz tells the tale of six modern-day Filipinos living in a single neighborhood, each narrating their private yet vivid stories of loss, longing, and Third World despair all intersecting in a public arena that is their packed community in the 2008 Cinemalaya full-length feature, Philippine Bliss.
