MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN programs proved to be the most values-oriented and most preferred by the 40,000-strong Thomasian studentry with its landslide victory at the Fifth USTv Students Choice Awards, bagging 18 out of the 25 awards.
MMFF Best Actress Anne Curtis received her second Best Actress award as she was chosen the Student’s Choice of Actress in a Daily Soap Opera for her work on Dyosa. John Lloyd Cruz, on the other hand, won the Student’s Choice of Actor in a Daily Soap Opera and the teleserye I Love Betty La Fea opposite Bea Alonzo emerged as the Student’s Choice of Daily Soap Opera.
Meanwhile, Sarah Geronimo was recognized as the Student’s Choice of Most Popular Local Music Video Performer and her A Very Special Love won as the Most Popular Local Music Video.
Aga Muhlach also made a surprise appearance and accepted the award for the Student’s Choice of Situational Comedy for his That’s My Doc.
For the News and Current Affairs group, Bernadette Sembrano won the Students’ Choice for Female-News and Public Affairs Host; Matanglawin for Educational Program, and Salamat Dok for Public Service Program which was the sole nominee for the said category.
Studio 23 also had its share with the fifth consecutive wins of programs Y-Speak, which bagged the Students’ Choice of Public Affairs Talk Show Program, and Family Rosary Crusade for Students’ Choice of Catholic Program.
PDA scholars Bugoy Drilon and Liezl Garcia; and Rachelle Ann Go, Sitti, Ronnie Liang also graced the event.
