Stars play Oscar characters in photo exhibit

MANILA, Philippines - Velvet Channel treats its Hollywood-loving audience who love the glamorous life to the first-ever Tribute to the Oscars photo exhibit.

Who can forget Johnny Depp’s surreal look in Edward Scissorhands or Hillary Swank’s bloodied image as Maggie Fitzgerald in The Million Dollar Baby? How about the classic gangster Coppola movie Godfather? You are in for a thrill as Velvet gives you a taste of Academy Award-winning fever, with a twist.

Velvet presents the first-ever Oscars photo exhibit featuring some of your favorite local artists and Manila’s trendiest royalties, who will be transformed and photographed as iconic Hollywood images and Academy nominated characters.

Showcased in the exhibit are Christian Bautista, portraying the titular Edward Scissorhands and Diether Ocampo who takes on Marlon Brando’s 1972 Academy Best Actor-winning role of Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather. Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate Baron Geisler also joins the pack as the underdog amateur boxer, Rocky Balboa from the 1976 Academy Best Picture, Rocky. Anne Curtis takes on the sultry Satine, Nicole Kidman’s Academy Best Actress-winner role in Moulin Rouge. Enchong Dee changes into Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.

Meanwhile, other personalities who agreed to be transformed into different award-winning characters are Bianca Valerio, Bianca Araneta, and Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales. Bianca Valerio will play the fierce Maggie Fitzgerald, originally played by 2004 Academy Best Actress Hilary Swank in The Million Dollar Baby; Bianca Araneta as Viola de Lesseps of Shakespeare in Love; and Tweetie as the welder-by-day-exotic-dancer-by-night Alex Owens in Flashdance.
