Champion love birds in concert. Producer Daisy Romualdez is in a quandary. What do you do when you have love birds in your show who are not love birds anymore. The logical answer is rethink the concept. But since it is Daisy of the well-known stubborn streak, she just took it upon herself to make sure that her love birds become love birds again if only for her show. The ex-love birds are comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto and Star in a Million champion Erik Santos. They promise that they will be the sweetest love birds in concert.
The concert is titled, what else but Love Birds and it also features love birds Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go. Now these two are love birds for real and the relationship is going very strong. So there is no need to be disappointed if you were looking forward to a romantic evening on Aug. 4 at the Fiesta Pavillion of the Manila Hotel. Christian’s latest release is the live-recorded Just a Love Song. This one has 20 tracks and should make cost-conscious Pinoys very happy. Most of the songs included are old favorites like More Than You’ll Ever Know, Cry for Help, Of All the Things and Fixing a Broken Heart. As for Rachelle Ann, she has another big hit with Alam ng Ating Mga Puso, one of the cuts in her album Obsession. It comes on the heels of the first single Don’t Say Goodbye. Produced by Christian de Walden of Hollywood, Obsession is made up of original works by an international line-up of songwriters. Don’t Say Goodbye is by Mexican composer Tony Ramirez while Alam ng Ating Mga Puso by Jimmy Borja is the Filipino contribution.

Fresh out of her successful In Motion concert at the Araneta Coliseum a few weeks ago, Sarah Geronimo will launch her latest album Taking Flight on ASAP ’07 on July 29. The album is her tribute to Filipino composers and contains 11 originals. The lead single is the Louie Ocampo composition I’ll Be Alright. Sarah will also kick off her mall tour on Sunday with an appearance at SM Southmall. This will be followed by SM Fairview on Aug. 12, after which she will leave for a six-week concert tour of the US on Aug. 15. Joining Sarah in the tour are fellow champions Mark Bautista, Kris Laurence and Raymond Manalo.
Mark recently scored a big seller with his collection of covers titled Every Now and Then. The album is now one of the biggest sellers in the market thanks to the success of Mark’s acoustic version of the Angela Bofill classic, Break It To Me Gently, arranged and produced by Mon Faustino. Next on tap for him as a single is I Don’t Want You To Go, which was originally popularized by Lani Hall. Jimmy Marquez, last year’s silver prize winner at the Shanghai Music Festival has just finished work on Save Every Minute, his first international album, also for De Walden. He is up for an Awit Award in the Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist for the Vehnee Saturno composition Tanging Ikaw.
