All aboard KKK

It is an ambitious and arduous mobile campaign to bring your agenda directly to the people. More so when one is a re-electionist senator who is running as an independent candidate. But what is conviction for, but to show daring and unflagging energy to attain what one believes in and to be always hopeful that things will turn out for the best.

So now there is local politics’ Lone Ranger Kiko Pangilinan riding the ultimate campaign vehicle on his second try for the senate and he has named this crucial trip the Kasama ni Kiko Karavan or KKK. This is a seven-vehicle convoy that will travel through various places in Northern and Central Luzon and then will end the trip in Metro Manila with Kiko’s Miting de Avance.

"This is a symbolic journey towards a better Philippines," says Sen. Kiko. "Through this, we want to encourage every Filipino who loves God and country to join us in a journey towards a new breed of leadership, a new kind of politics, a more meaningful governance." He also expressed optimism that the people they will meet along the way of his caravan will see the same vision he has for the country.

The name KKK was of course chosen because it stands for qualities that our heroes have handed down through generations of great Filipinos. Remember the Katipunan. It is the living symbol of how Filipinos have fought for their freedom and liberation from foreign control and tyranny. And these are the very same qualities that Kiko strives every day to live up to. Think bravery, integrity and unity. With these in mind, Pangilinan seeks to advance people’s sentiments and bring national politics to a higher plane.

The lead vehicle in the KKK is named the K Na Express. This was dressed up by young artists from the University of the Philippines with symbols representing Kiko’s major advocacies like human rights, environment, education, housing for the poor and press freedom, among others. Then leading the list of passengers at the Express is Kiko’s wife Sharon Cuneta, plus other members of his family.

Take off date was last Saturday, May 5 when the KKK left Manila for Laoag where they went around all day Sunday. Sorry if you were not in the area and missed meeting Kiko and his party. But there is still time for you to do so. Take note now of the other areas on their schedule and you might still be able to catch up with the ongoing tour.

Today, the KKK will visit Ilocos Sur, La Union and Baguio City. May 8 has Dagupan, Pangasinan, plus stops at Urdaneta City, Tarlac City and Olongapo City. May 9 has Subic, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan and the homestretch in Quezon City, where it ends with a massive concert cum rally.

Also set to join the KKK in various stops are friends of Kiko and Sharon like Judy Ann Santos, Gary Valenciano, Christian Bautista and bands like Kamikazee, Parokya ni Edgar and JEANS, which if you still do not know, is the group fronted by Jericho Rosales.
