The show is a program of the government with the support of Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Finance Department, PAGCOR and Philweb, says Philweb Corp. SVP Florentino Mauricio. Its a national raffle draw contest where participants should text in their cellphones PSR and details of the receipt (TIN, receipt number and the amount) to 9777 to win P1-M. (A receipt amounting to P100 is equivalent to one raffle entry.)
Araw-araw is also a 15-minute game show where studio contestants play for poker and card games. They can also win millions after surpassing each preliminary round.
Philweb president Dennis Valdes adds that the show aims to give millions and make millionaires every day. So far, Araw-araw Premyo sa Resibo has awarded a total of P23-M and changed lives of some lucky Pinoys out there. One of them is a retired government employee from Davao who settled his unupdated balance with a housing loan. All he did was buy in a Mercury drug store with receipt amounting to P600 and text the details.
Another was a jobless father of nine children who "gasolined" in a Shell station for P600. He followed the mechanics and won. Raffle draw winners come from as far North as Ilocos Sur and as down South as Davao.
More than texting and entertainment, Araw-araw Premyo sa Resibo encourages televiewers to keep their receipts and learn their value. Who knows? They might use it for another thing or this could be their chance to win P1-M. As for the winners, think-tanks behind the show would like them to start a small business and learn the importance of saving and/or banking.
To reach out and help more people, Araw-araw Premyo sa Resibo goes to SM malls instead of shooting in a studio.
Valdes thinks that by doing so, it disseminates more information about the show and its thrust. They could distribute 15,000 flyers a day. Thats enough to make others know about it aside from TV spots ABC 5 provides for the show. Because SM has malls in key cities nationwide, the show can reach more Pinoys by bringing Araw-araw Premyo sa Resibo to the countryside.
Although it is not on the primetime slot, Araw-araw Premyo sa Resibo has been successful and is getting a lot of consumer response. Proof is the number of text messages the show has been receiving.
JM Rodriguez and Teresa Garcia host the show. JM, a former host of now defunct Battle of the Brains, finds hosting the show fun and pleasurable. He assists contestants in playing poker and card games. The experience is different from hosting events or shows he has done before.
Teresa, on the other hand, is not new in the biz. She joined Star in A Million Season One where Erik was eventually declared the winner. She has appeared on TV shows like My Juan en Onli. She does modeling on the side. For Teresa, hosting the show is a pleasure, too, especially since it has helped people and changed their lives.
If theres one thing the show clearly imparts, its the fact that everything regardless of size has value.
