If we get lucky, most people dont remember the incident after a few days but unfortunately, there are just some incidents that leave a mark. They just cant seem to let go of that memory.
Dont you just sometimes wish there was a device that can just reformat all of your friends brains so they would forget events like these?
Hopefully, this article makes you feel a little better. Rich and famous celebrities seem all so blessed and perfect. When we see them on television, they seem to get it all right.
Most of this is because of the people working behind the camera who make sure the artists look the way they should.
But in real life, these celebrities still get their share of embarrassing moments, and theyre not just "embarrassing moments." Theyre probably a hundred times more embarrassing than a non-showbiz persons experience.
Shall I start with mine? Nah... Ill tell you about it a little later.
I went up to a few celebrities and interviewed them on this.
Glydel Mercado was my first victim. "Nag-te-taping kami that time for Your Honor, I think. Tapos ako ang nasa witness stand. Nagre-rehearse pa kami.
"Napansin ko yung isang gumanap na lawyer gulo-gulo ang hair. I said, Ayusin nyo nga ang buhok niya. Ang gulo-gulo, parang wig!
"Sumesenyas sila na may sasabihin sa kin. But I cant understand them. So, after the take, they called me and said, Wig talaga yon.
"Oh my God! I was so embarrassed! Kaya pala pulang-pula ang girl. So I just kept quiet."
This next one I approached was Assunta de Rossi, also known as "Ms. Long Gown 2003."
She began telling her story, "It happened to me twice in a year. The first time was at the Urian Awards.
"I was walking down the stairs at AFP Theater. I didnt have an escort then. I was feeling rather beautiful because I was wearing a revealing gown.
"Then I suddenly fell. I almost rolled over the stairs. I dont remember if I cursed. Then the people went, OK ka lang?! OK ka lang?! Ha?
"So I said, Kaya nyo yon? But deep inside, I wanted to melt! I know many people saw me.
"The second time was at the Metro Filmfest. Good thing there was no camera, or else. Alex (Alessandra, her sister) and I were walking. Then, I stepped on my gown!
"I fell on the ground, Bumaba yung gown ko kasi tube yun eh. Good thing nothing was seen! Alex even scolded me in front of a lot of people. So now Im more careful. I already practice walking slowly at home. Hindi na ako nagmamaganda! Mahirap na."
Assunta handled those two situations pretty well.
Direk Ricky Davao also experienced something very embarrassing, except it was during his personal time with his family. This was when they went to Philippine Plaza for Holy Week.
"We were swimming. I was in my trunks but I had my robe on. When we got to the pool, there were a lot of people and they were calling out my name.
"So ako naman, porma porma. My kids were already swimming. Dun kasi sa pool nila may isang step na mga a foot and a half which you can sit on. I was telling my kids to be careful. At the same time, I was waving to the people. Then I removed my robe to swim, but before that, some people wanted autographs.
"Then my daughter jumped! So I went to the pool and was about to go down. I tried to make a step, tapos wala palang step!
"I fell in the pool! I fell with my shades on! I didnt float at once. I think it took me around 30 seconds to compose myself.
"When I resurfaced, everybodys backs were turned on me. Sabi ko, Sige na... tawa na kayo! And then they started laughing... but we stayed the whole day at the pool... "
I was running out of breath laughing as he was telling me his story.
Last Sunday was one of my most embarrassing moments in the business when I did a dance number for ASAP with Aubrey Miles.
My call time was supposed to be 8 a.m., but since I thought the show wouldnt start until 12 noon, I decided to just wait until they would text me for the rehearsal.
Usually, artists come to the set with no makeup on. Thats why they give us an early call time. Im usually all made-up when I arrive on the set. Ive already memorized the steps for that dance number. All I needed to learn was the blocking onstage.
When I got to the studio, I didnt get to rehearse onstage. Aubrey told me I would be the first to come out on stage then we would do the final steps together.
Right before we came out, the dancers reviewed the steps with me. When I asked them who would be coming out first, the last thing they told me was Aubrey is supposed to come out before me.
When the music played, I was placed inside this car that was elevated a few steps, while Aubrey was on top of the car.
I was so surprised that the dancers started to dance my part of the song with an empty space in the middle, and no one ever bothered to come and get me out of that car!
I managed to step out of that car and come down to the stage, but I didnt want to just run straight to the middle and try to catch up with the steps. This would just look too awkward.
I ended up dancing behind the dancers, literally next to the wall at the back of the stage. Good thing I was able to get myself together for the final steps and pose as we were supposed to.
I was so embarrassed I cried for the first time when I got home. Im feeling a little better now. I just hope it didnt look that bad on TV.
But the most embarrassing situation Ive heard of this past week is about this one writer making up rumors about me in Egypt.
I say "embarrassing" because she just lost all her respect and credibility as a writer due to her false publicity about Richard Gomez and me.
How can a "one-night stand" happen when the camera is on my face even when Im taking a leak on the streets!
Its called "reality TV" because they capture every single moment of the show. Have you even had the chance to watch any of our episodes?
This is very unfair for us. Anyway, I really dont want to take so much of my precious time writing about it. I just thought Id put the writer as having the most embarrassing experience this week.
