Eminem scores big at MTV Europe Awards

Eminem of Slim Shady fame continues to prove that he is made up of exceptionally great hip hop genes as he rides high in nearly or should I say everything he undertakes. The blonde, blue-eyed and very controversial rapper is now reaping raves in many parts of the world for showing everybody what a competent actor he is in the motion picture 8 Mile, which has a great soundtrack too by the way.

Then last Nov. 14, Eminem topped the 2002 MTV Europe Awards in Barcelona, Spain by winning three of his four nominations in the major awards. He also gave a showstopping performance of his latest singles Lose Yourself from the 8 Mile soundtrack and Cleaning Out My Closet from the big-selling album The Eminem Show.

I must say it was no easy win, for Eminem was up against some of the biggest, most talented names in the music business today. Enrique Iglesias, Lenny Kravitz, Nelly and Robbie Williams for Best Male Act. Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule, Nelly and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs for Best Hip Hop Act.

His The Eminem Show competed against A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay, Fever by Kylie Minogue, Rock Steady by No Doubt and Missundaztood by Pink. The only category wherein Eminem lost was for Best Video. This one went to Remind Me by the dance act Royksopp who won over Where’s Your Head At by Basement Jaxx, Miss Lucifer by Primal Scream and Fell in Love with a Girl by The White Stripes.

Other big winners of the evening were sensational Australian beauty Kylie Minogue, Linkin Park and The Red Hot Chili Peppers who won for two categories each. Major losers who failed to bag a single trophy were Enrique Iglesias with three nominations and Shakira who tied with Eminem, Kylie and Pink with four. The complete list of winners:

New Warner albums
Two new albums will be launched by Warner Music this week. It will be an evening of sexy R&B ballads at Smooth Wednesdays tonight, Nov. 20, when Warner Music Philippines launches the new Craig David album Slicker Than Your Average in association with Fravastreet Entertainment, Lufthansa and PLDT My DSL. The event features DJ Steve Mills and DJ Aryan at Pravda. Attendees must be dressed to impress just like they would if they were going out with Craig in the case of the girls or wanting to put one over the sexy Craig in the case of the guys.

Friday, Nov. 22 marks the launch of the latest album by the hip-hop diva Missy Misdemeanor Elliott. The album is titled Under Construction and it will be launched at Wasabi. Nothing is said of the attire but if you still want to look impressive, just think along the lines of a hip hop wardrobe a la Missy Elliot and you will certainly feel sassy that you’ll grab the attention of everybody.
