Red rainfall warning up over Zambales, Bataan; NCR under yellow alert
MANILA, Philippines — Zambales and parts of Bataan were placed under a red rainfall warning on Friday morning, August 28, as the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to dump heavy rains over parts of Luzon.
In its heavy rainfall advisory issued at 11 a.m., state weather bureau PAGASA said that serious flooding is expected in flood-prone areas under the red warning level.
The following areas are under the red warning level:
- Zambales
- Bataan: Morong, Hermosa and Dinalupihan
PAGASA said flooding is still threatening in areas under the orange warning level, which covers:
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- Bulacan
- Bataan: Abucay, Bagac, Balanga, Limay, Mariveles, Orani, Orion, Pilar and Samal
- Nueva Ecija: Guimba, Santo Domingo, Talavera, Llanera, Rizal, Bongabon, Gabaldon, Laur, Palayan, General Mamerto Natividad, Cabanatuan, Aliaga, Quezon, Licab, Zaragoza, Jaen, Santa Rosa, San Leonardo, San Isidro, San Antonio, Cabiao, Gapan, General Tinio and Peñaranda
Meanwhile, flooding is possible in flood-prone areas under the yellow warning level, including:
- Metro Manila
- Rizal
- Cavite: Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, Cavite City, Rosario, Tanza, Naic, Ternate, Maragondon, General Trias, Magallanes, General Emilio Aguinaldo and Alfonso
- Batangas: Nasugbu, Lian and Calatagan
- Nueva Ecija: Carranglan, Cuyapo, Lupao, Nampicuan, Pantabangan, San Jose, Muñoz and Talugtug
PAGASA said light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are also expected over Laguna and parts of Batangas and Cavite within the next three hours.
In Batangas, these include Batangas City, Ibaan, San Jose, Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balayan, Balete, Bauan, Calaca, Tanauan, Cuenca, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa, Mabini, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Santo Tomas, Taal, Talisay, Tingloy and Tuy.
In Cavite, the affected areas are Amadeo, Indang, Mendez, Silang, Tagaytay, Trece Martires, Carmona, Dasmarinas and General Mariano Alvarez.
Light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are also affecting General Nakar, Quezon. The conditions may persist within three hours and could affect nearby areas.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said that it was monitoring a low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 8 a.m.
The weather disturbance has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
