Katipunan jeepney drivers relocated
MANILA, Philippines — Jeepney drivers operating along Quezon City’s Katipunan Avenue have been relocated amid the rehabilitation of the Katipunan Understory, according to city hall.
“There was no intention to remove jeepney drivers and operators from the area,” the city government said on June 5.
The loading and terminal area will be relocated within the same area while the project is being implemented, city hall said.
The decision was reached during a meeting held by the city government and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority with the jeepney drivers and operators.
Officials said they are working with parties involved to ensure that jeepneys would still be accessible to commuters.
The Katipunan Understory is home to the jeepneys used mostly by students of the Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College and the University of the Philippines.
