Bukidnon village chief held for guns

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — A barangay chairwoman and 18 other persons were arrested in Libona, Bukidnon yesterday for illegal possession of guns and ammunition.

Cpls. Daniel Manatad, Rafael Salido and Fernando Dumpa were wounded in a shootout with the suspects during a raid on the house of Cherry Barros, chairwoman of Barangay Kinawe.

Barros’ husband, Tarcisio, and his unidentified companion escaped.

A shotgun, three rifles, a submachine gun, a .38-caliber revolver, a .45-caliber pistol, a .40-caliber, a K3 machine gun, bomb materials and ammunition were among those reportedly recovered from the suspects.
