Cebu City gov’t to hire smart people

CEBU, Philippines — College graduates with honors and board topnotchers are needed at the Cebu City Hall.

The city government will again hire competitive individuals to help make case studies and projects to improve its services.

The recruits will consist the Mayor’s Management Team (MMT).

The Office of the Mayor will accept MMT applicants whether or not they are fresh graduates or residents of the city.

“Basically we’re a team nga maghimo og projects and case studies in order to improve the services of the city government,” said Karl Jade Cosido, administrative officer II of the Office of the Mayor.

Cosido said they are looking for at least 15 to 20 MMT members.

Among the applicants is James Matthew Leung, a magna cum laude graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

“I really want to serve for the government and see how it works internally and contribute on how I can make it better,” Leung told The FREEMAN.

Hired applicants will automatically be considered as casual workers and are expected to start either on the first or second week of May. They will enjoy a monthly salary of P20, 179 (Salary Grade 11).

MMT members will act as “middle managers” and will be assigned to different departments and offices in city hall where they will help streamline or improve bureaucratic red tape in city hall processes, among others.

“Ang ilang buhaton gyud initially is to document the process sa ilahang assigned departments. Dayun i-document ang whole system dayun mag-immersion sila and after that, i-go through sila og spring training,” Cosido said.

MMTs will be capacitated on the techniques and tools used to improve government processes.
