Tigers, Falcons dispute last berth

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — University of Santo Tomas and Adamson fight to keep their respective seasons alive as they contest the remaining Final Four berth in the UAAP Season 80 men’s volleyball tournament today at Filoil Flying V Center.

The Tigers forced the Falcons into the 2 p.m. rubbermatch for the right to face No. 1 National U in the semis after scoring a  25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17 victory over the AdU side last Saturday.

The two carded identical 6-8 cards behind NU (12-2), Far Eastern (12-2) and defending champion Ateneo (11-3).

“We had bungled many chances before, mostly due to our errors. Despite that, we still have a chance and we took advantage of that,” said UST coach Odjie Mamon, whose wards hurt their F4 campaign when they went on a five-game slump in the middle of the season.

“Hopefully we can make the most of this chance again on Wednesday,”  added Mamon, whose wards are gunning for back-to-back semis stints.

The Falcons, for their part, are expected to go all out to make it back to the semis after missing the playoffs last season.
