2 brothers nabbed for guns, drugs

MANILA, Philippines — Two brothers were arrested after police officers allegedly caught them smoking marijuana and brandishing a shotgun in Tondo, Manila Wednesday night.

Police officers from the Manila Police District Station 2 said they received a call at around 7:40 p.m. regarding two armed men smoking marijuana near the corner of La Torre and Guerrero streets.

Police Officer 3 Jovelito Lavarias and two other operatives rushed to the area to verify the report and saw Herminio Hogan, 26, and Harris, 21, both tricycle drivers, holding a shotgun. 

The brothers tried to escape upon seeing the policemen but were cornered after a brief chase, police said.

When frisked, the brothers allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu, two sachets of marijuana, two 12-gauge shotgun shells, a fan knife and assorted drug paraphernalia.
