He survived Guihulngan ambush policeman faces arrest from NPA rebels
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A policeman, who survived the ambush-slay of six police officers in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on July 21 last year, is reportedly facing arrest from the New People's Army Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC).
Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of the LPC, said in a statement that an arrest order has been issued against Jerome Delara, a policeman assigned at the Guihulngan City Police Station.
Regalado alleged that Delara, with seven others, harassed participants of the "Kalbaryo sang Kabataan" on March 28, starting from Barangay Poblacion to Brgy. Buenavista, also in Guihulngan City.
Regalado said the NPA condemned the act of Delara and his companions. He recalled that Delara, who was driving the vehicle of the Guihulngan City Police Station, surrendered to the NPA during the ambush, which killed six policemen, including Superintendent Arnel Arpon, their city police chief.
The LPC also condemned the continued military operations of the military, especially that of the 62nd Infantry Battalion, in the hinterlands of La Castellana and Moises Padilla towns in Negros Occidental, as well as in the mountainous areas of Canlaon and Guihulngan cities in Negros Oriental.
A similar order of arrest was also issued earlier by LPC against members of the 62nd IB for the arrest of six communist rebels, after an encounter last month in Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
