Nuat Thai bagged the team title of Business in Golf 2017 played at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.  The team received their prizes from the officers of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  From left are BiG Chairman Nimrod NL Quiñones, CBM 2017 Chairman Charles Kenneth Co, Pedrito Buenavista, Kenneth Carredo, Guidioso Melendez, Elmo Nazareno, and CCCI VP for Membership Christian Paro-an.

CEBU, Philippines - Team Nuat Thai bagged the title of the Business in Golf 2017 Tournament presented by Cebu Landmasters Inc., which was played Thursday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club on the hills of Pardo, Cebu City.

Vedit Kurangil of Sta. Fe Relocation Services won the coveted Golfer of the Year plum while Eric Kong and Joseph Macasusi also won individual honors in the 18-hole tournament, which is one of the side events of Cebu Business Month 2017.

Team Nuat Thai had the tandem of Kenneth Carredo and Gaudioso Melendez combing for 51 points in the best-ball format while Elmo Nazareno and Pedrito Buenavista scored 50 points for a team total of 101.

The four-man team event required teams to field two best-ball pairs with the winners determined based on who had the best aggregate.

First runner-up was Vanex Trading with 100 points.  The team had skipper Ramon Sebastian and BiG 2017 chairman Nimrod NL Quiñones combining for 52 points.  The other pair composed of Vicente Go and Alvin Lim made 48.

Second runner-up was Globe 1 that had Francis Granados and Melvin Alfonso scoring 48 and Archie Villa and Jershwin Po making 50 for a total of 98 points.

The Modified Stableford Scoring System was used in the tournament that was also backed by VECO and OPASCOR as gold sponsors. 

For the individual honors, Joseph Macasusi of Globe 2 bagged the lowest net honors with a score of 11-under-par 47 points.

Eric Kong of Alaska Refrigeration won the lowest gross plum scoring two-under-par 70 strokes, which was equivalent to 38 gross points.

Kurangil, who is the company representative of Sta. Fe Relocation Services, bagged the golfer of the year award with 44 points.  This prize is awarded to the CCCI member, who scores the most points in the tournament.

His company was also one of the silver sponsors along with Fast Autoworld Inc. and Cebu Mitsumi Inc.

Philippine National Bank, Mandani Bay, and First Life Phils., Inc. also supported the tournament. (FREEMAN)
