Capitol set to conduct inventory on properties

Kristine B. Quintas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Government is set to conduct an inventory of all its real properties to “optimize” their use, according to Capitol’s investment and promotions officer.

Roy Soledad, head of the Cebu Investment and Promotions Office, said proper accounting of all real property units in the province is beneficial to determine where and what Capitol property has been standing idle for years now.

This would also raise the province’s revenue collections once the real properties are leased out to prospective investors, he said.

“Ang ma-generate nga revenue can be used for the implementation of different projects and programs,” he said.

“All properties of the province, including those in Barangays Lahug and Kamputhaw will be looked into asa ang idle aron ma-optimize. Basically, inventory of all the properties and their statuses now,” he added.

He said they will prioritize the inventory of some 14 province-owned properties being eyed by investors for development.

Soledad said there were at least six prospective investors who expressed their intent to put up businesses, for instance, at Larsian, a barbecue center located in Fuente Osmeña in Cebu City.

“These are just unsolicited proposals or concepts and not full-blown proposals,” he said.

He said the economic enterprise technical support group will also identify the current fair market value of these properties.

He recalled that the Capitol’s economic enterprise council earlier passed a resolution, determining properties that are for disposition and for development. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
